Thesis 8

Discovery participation is both a duty and an opportunity for developers

In the Agentic Trio, participating in discovery is not an optional extension of the developer role, but a defining part of it. The effect of this is very different for two distinct types of developers:

For developers who always wanted to do discovery but never had the time, the Agentic Trio fulfills an old promise. The interest in user problems, in the why behind the what, was often there all along. Delivery simply ate up most of the time.

For developers who were not part of a trio so far and never wanted to do discovery work, the Agentic Trio is a new challenge. The developer role changes fundamentally in the Agentic Trio.
